Everything a grower needs to know about spraying equipment

You can apply chemical plant protection agents with spraying Machines (pulverizers), which are also called chemical spraying equipment. Spraying is a technique in which the pesticides that need to be applied are dissolved in water or suspended. This mixture can be applied as a mist on the product, which needs protection by Spraying Machines. These Machines are used to control all kinds of diseases, pests and fungi on plants.

Modern spraying Machines (pulverizers) have been developed to maximize the spraying performance and prevent damage to the crop. Spraying Machines are used for different applications: weed killers, pesticides, disinfectants or fertilizers. What are the types of Spraying Machines?

There are two types of spraying that you can use in a greenhouse or on a farm: low-volume spraying techniques and high-volume spraying techniques. It is important to know that not every spraying technique is suitable for all products. In addition, not every product protection agent is suitable for every spraying technique. Therefore, it is important to know the differences between low-volume and high-volume decanting techniques.

Low volume spraying technique: When using a low volume spraying technique, a small amount of spraying liquid is used. This spraying technique is most often preferred in the cultivation of potted plants, and sometimes in the cultivation of vegetables.

High-volume spraying technique: Unlike the low-volume spraying technique, high-pressure spraying techniques use a lot of spraying liquid. Water with dissolved plant protection substances is distributed using a spray cart, boom sprayers and spray guns or spears. High-pressure spraying techniques are used in floriculture as well as in vegetable growing.

Advantages of Using Spraying Machines (pulverizers)

Less visible residue. Crop protection agents leave a visible or invisible residue on the back of the crop. There is a legal standard for consumption crops: the Maximum Residue Limit (MRL). This is to prevent people from ingesting harmful amounts when consumed. When a visible residue is left on the product (fruit, flower or leaf), its (ornamental) value decreases. Using field treatment, very little residue can be obtained on the product. On the other hand, when spraying plant protection products, visible residues sometimes form.

Labor saving; products can be distributed over a wide surface area in a short time. This method requires less labor than spraying, because it is not necessary to spray every inch of the path of plants.

Use less water. Less water is used with Spraying Machines (pulverizers). Quick drying of the product reduces the likelihood of fungal infestation.
